College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences

The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences is UNT’s largest and most comprehensive college, home to nearly 9,000 students and 24 academic departments and programs ranging from Anthropology and Political Science to Media Arts, English, International Studies and the Mayborn School of Journalism. At the heart of the university for high-impact, interdisciplinary research and intellectual and creative discovery, the college prepares the next generation of scholars, engaged citizens and leaders of an ever-changing, globalized world through a contemporary liberal arts education that fosters intellectual curiosity, bold and critical thinking and an innovative spirit to improve the human experience. Bolstered by engaged learning environments with world-class faculty, its innovative curriculum and opportunities from research and creative activities enable students to build the knowledge and skills foundational to career success and the pursuit of meaningful and impactful lives. 

CLASS Dean's Excellence Fund - This fund helps the college cover student needs and respond to opportunities and challenges as they occur. Gifts help support scholarships, research opportunities and so much more.

CLASS Take Flight - The CLASS Take Flight is a First Year Advising program for all students in their first year at UNT after high school graduation.

Mayborn’s Student Internship & Professional Development Fund - Established a few short years ago, this fund helps send students to out-of-state dream internships that they could not normally afford, as well as pays for travel for students to attend professional conferences and awards ceremonies as they network and spread the word about all that the Mayborn School has to offer. 

Undergraduate Research & Discovery Initiatives - This fund helps to support undergraduate students to participate in research projects under the mentorship of elite faculty who are experts in their field. The experience of student research allows them to develop essential skills such as hypothesis testing, critical analysis and communication skills that build their confidence while developing their expertise. 

Graduate Student Professional Development - This fund is used to support graduate students to showcase their developing research and scholarship at national and international conferences and conventions. These experiences are essential to expanding the training grounds and growth our UNT's next generation of academic and industry leaders.
