UNT Day of Giving has created opportunities for so many students in the College of Health & Public Service since its inception. By providing much-needed funding to the UNT ELEVAR Program, donors have made it possible for students with intellectual disability to experience higher education and all the programs and activities that UNT students enjoy. We're excited to celebrate the graduation of UNT ELEVAR's first cohort this spring.
By contributing to our student scholarships, donors have given opportunities to students who may otherwise not have been able to attend college. In HPS, we are proud to have a high number of first-generation students, and being one myself, I know personally how transformative higher education can be, and how even the smallest contribution to a student's success allows them to overcome barriers and accomplish their dreams. Donors' generous support truly changes the trajectory of our students' lives.
HPS Scholarship Fund: This scholarship is open to students enrolled full time in the UNT College of Health and Public Service who meet the minimum entrance and continuing academic performance standards of the university and demonstrate eligibility for need-based financial assistance as determined by completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
ELEVAR program: This fund supports a four-year postsecondary education program that empowers students with intellectual disabilities to become self-determined, independent and healthy adults readied for integrated competitive employment.
HPS Student Emergency Fund (The Alice Cruden Evenson and Herbena Nygard Fund): This fund aides students by helping to pay for unexpected expenses such as car repairs that may keep them from being able to get to the UNT campus or pay for food when jobs are lost.
